As a Senior Underwriter/Analyst, you will analyze new acquisition opportunities and ad-hoc asset management and development initiatives across existing properties. You must be a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with a keen, analytical mind and possess solid underwriting experience in retail and mixed-use real estate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a tremendous people-first culture and a hybrid work schedule with three days per week in our Century City corporate office and two days in a flexible work location. This role may have some limited business travel requirements.

To thrive as our Senior Underwriter/Analyst, you should have:

Bachelor’s degree

4+ years of analytical experience modeling commercial real estate transactions, specifically for mixed-use projects, including retail, multi-family, and office asset classes.

Solid knowledge of key financial concepts and metrics for real estate transactions, including capitalization rates, internal rates of return, cash-on-cash returns, promote waterfalls, and others

Advanced Excel user with significant commercial real estate financial modeling experience (ideally with significant Argus & large format retail experience)

Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and display a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness, and sound decision-making, all with minimal oversight and while maintaining meticulous attention to detail

Solid written and verbal communication skills with a passion for real estate

Your responsibilities will include:

Acquisition & Financing

  • Lead on all underwriting and modeling of cash flow, joint venture equity structures, and key return metrics for potential large-format retail-led center acquisitions, financings, and mixed-use developments
  • Assess development opportunities for adding multi-family or alternative uses to large-format retail locations
  • Prepare investment recommendation packages for investment committee and capital partner approvals
  • Perform market research (key demographics, economic forecasts, lease, and sales comps, broker reports, etc.) to identify potential opportunities and/or risks and to validate underwriting assumptions
  • Participate in the sourcing of new acquisition opportunities and capital relationships via direct interactions with peer-level brokers and capital sources across the industry
  • Coordinate due diligence activities with brokers, sellers, and third-party consultants
  • Manage debt and equity closing activity on new transactions
  • Flexibility to undertake limited business travel

Asset Management & Development

  • Work with the development team on feasibility models for select redevelopment & adaptive reuse opportunities
  • Evaluate and articulate the current, near, and long-term outlook for existing retail & mixed-use assets
  • Update Argus and Excel models with periodic forecasts and recapitalization (or disposition) scenarios as needed
  • Support development, property, and portfolio managers with financial analyses as needed
